DR Okoh Sunday Ofuzim is Currently a Deputy Director and head, of the Chemical Technology Division in the Chemical, Fibre and Environmental Technology (CFET) Department of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) Lagos, Nigeria.
He is an indigene of Ekpon in Igueben Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria.
He became the Deputy Director of the of CFET Department on January 1st, 2023 and was a Chief Research Officer (CRO) of the same Department for about eight Years (8) between January 2015 and January 1st, 2023.
DR Okoh possesses a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Organic Chemistry in February 2014 obtained at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and Specializes in Natural Products Processing, Soap and Cosmetics Technology.
DR Okoh had his Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) with distinction in Organic Chemistry in November 2005 at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and his Bachelors (B.Sc.) Degree in Chemistry and at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria.
DR Okoh currently supervises at least four (4) Research and Development projects in the Division with Research Scientists in various relevant disciplines in the Department.
DR Okoh has numerous contributions to National Development especially in the area of improvements of traditional black soap, laundry soap, neem soap, sanitizer, cosmetics and skin care Products Development and resource facilitator in All FIIRO soaps and cosmetics training and technology transfer workshops
DR Okoh has at least 37 published papers in Local and International High Impact Journals which are majorly in the area of soap, and cosmetics, essential oils, active compounds isolation and characterization from medicinal plants, antioxidants and antimicrobials activities of plants, oils, and food extracts.
DR Okoh currently has one (1) Patent to his credit and one (1) new Research and Development innovations submitted for Patent registration in 2023.
He is a current member of the Editorial board and reviewer of at least ten (10) International Journals on natural products, Essential oil research, etc.
DR Okoh is a recipient of many awards such as the World Bank (STEP-B Innovator of Tomorrow) postgraduate scholarship, A Postdoctoral Research fellow at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, Knowledge, Interchange and Collaboration (KIC). Travel grant for individual researcher Awarded by National Research Foundation, South Africa, GMRDC Research Seed grant 2017, 2018 and 2019
